Cost of Scouting

For the most up-to-date and detailed information from Scouts BSA on registration costs see Cost of Cub Scouting. Plan for the first year of Pack Membership, Scouting America registration and uniform to cost approximately four hundred dollars.

Costs are broken down in to several categories

Scouting America Membership

All youth participating in Cub Scouts must be members of Scout America. The first year of membership is $85 as of the 2026/27 season. An optional subscription to Scout Life Magazine is $15. Discount codes may be offered by the Council for membership, but The Pack may not be aware of those and can only quote the published price.

Scholarships for this portion of the cost are available through The Council, see a pack leader for details or reach out to the Local Council directly. Scholarship applications must be submitted as paper applications.

Families must register directly with Scouting America in their first year to join. In subsequent years their membership will be renewed by The Pack

Cub Scout Uniform & Book

Details of the uniform for each rank, with a link to their current prices at the Scout Shop can be found HERE. The Pack recommends visiting the Denver Scout Shop to purchase your uniform there. The Staff there can help you get everything you need including sewing on your patches. Let them know you are with Cub Scout Pack 667 and what den you are joining.

All scouts are encouraged to own the Field Uniform, or "Class A" and be in uniform for meetings. The Uniform Assistance Program for Youth provides assistance in purchasing a uniform. The Pack may also have items in a uniform exchange depending on what is donated to us.

A Pack T-shirt is provided to all new scouts. This is a less formal Activity Uniform, formerly know as "Class B" uniform. We wear these for outdoor activities or meetings.

Books for each rank are available at the Scout Shop, these are not provided by The Pack and are optional for Scouts. The requirements for each rank are available online at Cub Scout Adventures. 

Pack Fundraising Obligation

In place of dues or program fees, Pack 667 has a fundraising obligation per Scout to fund the pack activities for the year. The Pack does not receive funds from the council, so the costs of running the program are covered by all participating families. Families who do not wish to participate in fundraisers can choose to meet this obligation by donating the required amount themselves. See The Pack treasurer for details.

The funds raised pay for Awards earned for completing Cub Scout requirements, Pack activities including: Weekly Den Meetings, Award Ceremonies, Rocket Launch, Pinewood Derby, Blue & Gold Banquet, Raingutter Regatta, Overnight Camp Out, registration renewals and more. 

Our budget is created by the members of the pack and is available for members to review.

The fundraising obligation will be updated each year according to the budget and is generally between two and three hundred dollars for the season. 

Pack Fundraising Opportunities

To help families meet the fund raising obligation The Pack will generally participate in at least one fundraiser.

Trails End Popcorn is our biggest fundraiser and runs from August to December each year. Most families who choose to participate in fund raising reach their goal with this fund raiser. The Pack will manage the inventory and set up store fronts for Scouts to sell at.

Other opportunities will vary depending on the interest of Pack members and availability of volunteers.  Different fundraisers will have different methods of crediting families for their sales depending on the vendor.

Extra Activities

Throughout the year opportunities may present themselves for additional activities. These may require a separate registration if you wish to participate. Some examples have been Denver Zoo Scout Days, overnight camp at the Colorado Springs Zoo, Camps put on by the Scouts BSA council, etc. These activities will never be required and no required rank advancement will be solely available at an activity requiring a paid registration.
